The Locutor Series is told in three large acts that span a total of nine books.
All books from the first act are now available.
Book One: The Featherweight Augur
Lyric can read minds ... but not by using magic. The citizens of the peaceful land in which she resides have spent a century refining a special stone that allows its owner to peer into others’ thoughts. These mind-stones are entrusted to only nine citizens, each of whom rigorously studies for years before assuming the role of locutor. Lyric is one of the youngest and most skilled locutors the land has ever seen.
Her community’s tranquil peace is shattered one night when an outsider commits an act of terrible violence. Once captured, he describes mysterious new forces that will threaten the laws and customs of the land: a sorcerer who claims to speak with a god. When Lyric conducts a mind-stone reading of the man, she hears whispers of something even stranger: the featherweight augur.

Book Two: The Silent Mountain
Lyric’s community is safe … but for how long? Has the threat really passed or is this just a short reprieve? Seeking answers to these critical questions, Lyric leaves Heathland with a small group of comrades, striking out for the neighboring community of Coppice where similar crimes have also been reported. What she finds wrenches her quest in a new direction, prompting her to weigh her own intuitions against the settled laws of the land.
Readers are introduced to the broader world of the Nine Communities, with new geographical settings and a history of the War of Mountain Glass. Looming large throughout the book is the shadow of Inselberg, the great mining community, and the mystery surrounding its recent silence.

Book Three: The Shattered City
Lyric is beset by dangers of all types — physical, political, philosophical — while she struggles to navigate the complex dynamics of a world spinning out of control. By leveraging her mind-stones and her bravery, she cuts a lone figure of determination through the fog of war and the halls of high political power.
The book opens in a frenzy of pursuit, a terrifying plunge into the deserted valleys between Inselberg and the capital city, Alluvia. A genre-bending crescendo strains the Nine Communities nearly to the point of disaster. While the leaders of the land struggle to broker a new peace in the aftermath, Lyric must make a weighty choice: to what is she ultimately accountable? The dictates of the Covenant or her own sense of self?

Book Four: The Troubled Search
As the two locutors tasked by the Council of Nine with leading their fellow citizens to safety, Lyric (now back in Heathland) and Kirsa (working in Alluvia) each launch new investigations into the nature and scope of a vague threat. Their separate searches lead them into increasingly bizarre territory, pointing toward the troubling realization that they have only come up against the very edge of a much broader and more complex universe.
In the fourth book of The Locutor Series, which begins the second act of the epic story, the puzzles deepen and multiply as the stakes increase exponentially. Readers are led in and out of genres that begin to bleed into one another in surprising and unexpected ways.
